Welcome to our world!

From my perspective it’s easy to be so bubbly and energetic. I am always blessed with great kids who are unique and full of personality. (I guess that’s your doing, parents. Thanks!) I love going to work every day and knowing that I can have a positive impact on a child’s life, what could be better?

At Dynamite we get to work with kid to teach them valuable life lessons and I guess we teach some gymnastics too ! It’s easy for us as gymnastics instructors and coaches to say something to a kid right under their radar; things that if their mom, dad or teacher said it their response would be to brush it off or roll their eyes. This is a very magical position to have in a child’s life. I am lucky enough to not only teach classes but team as well. My team kids see me as the ‘cool’ adult who’s younger and knows about their ‘struggles’. Kids are all about finding someone to look up to and trust – luckily I get to be one of those people.

Recently I used this status in my gymnasts’ lives to my advantage. A parent e-mailed us and explained that she was devastated because her daughter (an awesome kid who I’ve known for 2 years) was pretty much getting peer pressured into bullying. I was heartbroken by this and managed to let her (and all of my kids) know how I feel about bullying without them realizing a parent had anything to do with the conversation.

So the next time you get frustrated with your child when you’re trying to convey a message to them, just send them to Dynamite! We've got your back!
